This is the way of peace: overcome evil with good, and falsehood with truth,
and hatred with love.” ~ Peace Pilgrim

K-Lair has been a UK tradition for 63 years. They’ve built a new dorm complex next door (you may remember it from last year’s many geo-thermal photos). Instead of integrating, updating, or thinking otherwise creatively about K-Lair, they’re going to knock it down. It’s not that K-Lair’s food was anything to write home about. Unless one waxes poetic about the school lunch cheeseburger, there’s little to be said for the cuisine. But the location, the high-carb fuel food, and most especially the history make it worthy of note. Generations of UK students have eaten here. This Friday, the last of us will pass through her chow line, order that paper-thin mystery meat patty with American cheese, fries, and a Coke before graduating the next day. As an alum and employee, I thank you, K-Lair. We’re all going to miss you.
