“Don’t be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of. One person gets only a week’s value out of a year while another person gets a full year’s value out of a week.”
~ Charles Richards
I never paid attention to Advent. I don’t remember talking, or hearing, much about it until I started attending First Presbyterian Church. I look forward to Advent. I become much more contemplative, and I enjoy it much more than Christmas itself; the season that has sadly been over-commercialized and reduced to fighting with each other over knick knacks. Instead, as each candle is lit on Sunday, I give thanks for the year behind me, for the people who have crossed my path, for the mercy and kindness shown me, and for the hope of another tomorrow.
