Saturday’s baby shower was held in the Marian Historic Venue in Burlington, KY. That in itself is not too notable except that it was built in the 1884 and remains in pristine condition. More importantly for our purposes here, for the better part of the last century (say 1930-1970), the house was the home and office to one Dr. Martin A. Yelton, MD (1879-1964). The baby for whom the shower was held is the good doctor’s 3x Great-Grandson. Three of Yelton’s great-granddaughters were also at the shower and all three remember the man and the house. They were all quite fond memories as well. It’s wonderful that the family that now owns the house, a family unrelated to Yelton, and the city of Burlington have done such hard work to preserve their heritage. Well done.
