small beauty

Tomorrow marks the 10th anniversary of buying my house (the same day Stacy bought hers). One of the first things I loved about being a home owner was the yard filled with violets. I remember coming home late one night and laying down in them. I lay there staring at the stars when I said out loud, “Wow, this is my yard!” As if reality had just hit me. Sometimes I still have to pinch myself that I own a house. I’ve lived here longer than I’ve lived in any house in my life. So many things have changed in these last ten years, some good, some bad, but I’m grateful for every single bit of it. I’m grateful to have a job that helps me pay the mortgage. I’m grateful to have Mount Flushmore roaring in the bathroom. I’m grateful for Wally’s fence. I love my neighbors, even the man with the incessant chainsaw. And I’m eternally grateful for the violets that are as beautiful and prolific today as they were ten years ago.

They are beautiful and you have a beautiful place to call your own.
