Betty White turns 90 today. I said to someone younger (than me) just last week that there are two things age brings with it besides wrinkles and memory loss; you no longer care what anyone thinks about you and, you say things you wouldn’t have said as a twenty-something. In truth, most of us care what people think of us, if only by our closest friends and family. And, at least in my case, I rarely say exactly what I think – contrary to popular belief.

I chuckle a little when I get something from AARP. I’m counting down the years to those senior discounts, let me tell ya. Kathy Bates yelling – Towanda – rings in my head when my insurance rate goes down. I often joke that I want to be Betty White when I grow up; fearless, funny, sassy, loved beyond measure, and still hot (see her recent rap song with Luciana). Me and my BFF, Angie Bliss, have promised each other that we’re going to wear purple and pick flowers from other people’s yards (Jenny Joseph’s Warning). We kinda do that already. I reckon we’re off to a good start.

Yes, aging has it’s advantages. So, here’s to my many fellow Capricorns who have aged another year. And here’s to Betty White. May you live to celebrate 100.

TOWANDA!!

Any flowers you find in my yard are yours for the picking! They vary by the season: snowdrops (coming up now), bluebells, daffodils and all their cousins (paperwhites, narcissus, jonquils, etc.), crocus, tulips, hyacinths, iris (purple and white), tiger lilies, surprise lilies (aka naked ladies 🙂 ), etc., etc. 🙂
