A couple of weeks ago, I learned Hindman Settlement School was publishing a new journal called Untelling. The first issue was available, so I ordered one, which arrived today. It is stunning. If anybody could and should do a journal, it’s Hindman, and the first issue proves how right that is. But when I got the mail, there was another package that I had not ordered, though it was addressed to me. I don’t know who my fairy book mother is, but you gave me a gorgeous book about one of my all-time favorite things: crows. I fell in love with them when I moved into my house over 17 years ago because they’re all over the neighborhood, and my admiration has deepened. I don’t know what I did to deserve your kindness, friend, but thank you for knowing my love of crows and gifting me this beautiful surprise.
