“Going back to a simpler life is not a step backwards.” ~ Yvon Chouinard

precautions (snapseed)

We’ve got some answers this evening, which was more than I had when I came home last night without dad. The best news is that he tested negative for virtually everything known to man including Corona Virus! As a result, this evening he was moved out of the COVID Ward to a different floor. He is, however, still isolated because everybody in a hospital is isolated right now no matter what’s wrong with them. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the test he did not pass was Clostridioides difficile also known as C Diff. You can read more about it here. If you’re unfamiliar with C Diff, in short, it’s when the good bacteria in your colon is either wiped out or very nearly so such that the bad bacteria in your colon takes over and starts doing no good very bad things. It can be highly contagious. Mom and I do not have it and we don’t know how dad got it since he has not done a lot of antibiotics, which is a usual cause of the onset. It is very, very difficult to get rid of, and it can do serious damage along the way, including death. Nevertheless, in perfect Hero fashion, the nurses reported that this evening he had managed to eat solid food and crack jokes with the nurses. He even scooted himself from one bed to another. That’s our Hero. Once a fighter, always a fighter. I speak for dad and mom when I say we sincerely appreciate the outpouring of love and well wishes. You’ve flooded our hearts and we are forever grateful to all of you. He’s not out of the woods yet, but I’m sure with your spirits behind him his chances are excellent.
