Sunday visit 2020 style

The weather cooperated for Aunt Charlene and Uncle Tony to drop by for a socially distanced visit with mom and dad. They came bearing gifts of homemade chocolate pie, and books galore for me from Jennifer Reynolds. The woman has outdone herself on the perfect-gift-for-Kopana this year, what with loading me up on new novels and poetry by Native American authors. Color me tickled pink for sure. Meanwhile, Charlene’s chocolate pie tastes just like Mamaw Terry’s, and boy, does it take me back to a house full of Terrys on the holidays when there was more Terrys than places to sit and more delicious food than should have been allowed. The men would play Rook for hours, the women drinking coffee and cleaning and eating, and us grandchildren playing inside, outside, in the creek, up the hill, in the barn, you name it. If we could get to it, we’d play in it. Such fond memories. They always makes me miss my cousin Michael. He’s not dead, he’s just in South Carolina. I’m always pleased to see Charlene and Tony. They carry goodness in their souls.
