“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” ~ C.S. Lewis
About a month ago I mentioned that our neighbors in Northern Kentucky/Southern Ohio were experiencing sleepless nights thanks to the 17 year cicada horde making their way to the surface to fulfill their destiny. There were a few reports around Lexington of a cicada here and there, but nothing like what NKY was going through. I thought Cicadapaloosa 2021 had passed Southland by until yesterday when this shell appeared on mom and dad’s deck. Today, there’s some buzzing outside my doors, which sounds pretty normal for summer, if I’m honest. It just sounds like Eastern Kentucky to me, and I’m absolutely great with that.
