“Each of us is more than the worst thing we’ve ever done.” ~ Bryan Stevenson

rainbow over football field

I told you last night was beautiful. Look at this old football field with the rainbow and pretty clouds. I’ve always found small town football fields kind of lonely when they’re empty. They need kids and laughter and playful energy. Still, it was beautiful in the evening sun as the distant storm died away. The rainbow is particularly poignant tonight because, just two hours ago, Stacy’s beautiful cat, Winter, crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I happened to be at her house listening to the new Prince LP when her super sweet neighbor showed up to tell her Winter was in distress in their yard. He hung on until Stacy could get to him. He died in her arms before we got him home. He’s now resting peacefully with Leo and one-eyed Jack and Edgar Allen Crow under my fir tree. Stacy was heartbroken. Winter’s best friend Wally just sniffed him and wagged his tail very fast. Isn’t it interesting how animals behave sometimes? Nevertheless, I’m confident that Winter is enjoying peace and tranquility on the other side, chasing birds and squirrels, climbing higher in a tree than he’s ever climbed before, fearless and unwinded. Boundless joy.
