BGT had their monthly deTour at Mustard Seed Hill in Milllersburg this evening. For those unfamiliar, which is likely most of you, Mustard Seed Hill is the former Millersburg Military Institute that educated students for 113 years. The main building, the Allen House, was the first building on the property. It was built in 1852. It, along with the gym, have been restored. They’re currently working on one of the dorms (below). It was a gorgeous evening for a tour and I saw lots of people I know.
Two of my all-time favorite people were there, so I had to snap a pic, of course (top photo). Lucy Jones and I both serve on the deTour committee. You met her briefly back in 2019. She is brilliant at so many things, but her work with BGT and historic preservation is inspiring. Plus, her smile lights up a room. Kevin Dearinger, whom you also met in 2019, is Mr. Awesome in my world. As he said this evening, “We’ve bonded.” Indeed we have. I feel so lucky to be in such fine company, and I never come away from seeing either of them without learning something. What a blessing.
