To my utter surprise, two childhood friends and classmates of Ron and I showed up at the reception Tuesday night. Kim Standafer and Alicia McClurg came to see our work. They’ve both recently retired from careers in education and now living their best lives. Alicia absolutely loves live local music and can be found at The Burl here in Lexington quite often. Kim has five grandchildren (so far). I’ll tell ya what, I think we’re holding up exceptionally well for a bunch of nearly 60-year-olds. I can’t express in words just how much joy their presence brought me, and talking with them made my day.
