Two of my favourite new people, Martha Bazzell (standing) and Linda Cline (seated), are also two of the interviewees for the project that took me to Scottsville, Kentucky last week. Believe it or not, it is an honour when someone points at me while I’m photographing them. They’ve reached a level of comfort with me that can be difficult to earn. And when it happens, it’s sweet and funny and humbling. These women made my work on the project worth all the effort.
