“If you’re truly alive, you’ll always be a little frightened. Because we can never know what’s right, never know what will happen next. So if you’re feeling really sure and know what’s right, poor you… you’ve died and you don’t even know it.” ~ Marshall Rosenberg
I’ve always been proud of dad, but when I look at these photos together, I see his progression into manhood. I think he was 18 in the center photo, maybe 20 on the left and 25 on the right (mom probably knows for sure). He was exceedingly handsome, was he not? Was still exceedingly handsome in his old age, too. A friend sent a private message with a photo of her dad and mine riding the Veterans float at the Sorghum Festival. We mused about how lucky we were to have heroes for fathers. I’ve always known how fortunate I am to have this guy for my dad, but I feel it more now than ever. I won the lottery.
