Yet another UK building is getting a facelift. Scovell Hall was once an Ag building, but since I’ve been employed at UK, it has served as HR Central. I’ve lost count of the students I’ve sent there for their I-9 forms. The plans released for the renovation reveal a similar design to many other retro-fitted UK buildings, using glass, steel, and open space as hallmarks. I don’t see history being kind to this style. It already looks dated and seems environmentally hard to manage over time with all the glass. But, hey, they didn’t ask for my opinion, so they didn’t get it. Maybe I’ll change my mind once it’s put together.
