I ran into my old friend Judi Jennings at an event earlier this week. We made good use of our short time, catching up on stuff as fast as we could. If there hadn’t been other people, we’d still be talking. Judi is a gifted writer and activist, having headed the KY Foundation for Women for years and writing several books. Her latest is Helen Matthews Lewis: Living Social Justice in Appalachia, edited by Judi and Patricia Beaver. Her love for Kentucky and Appalachia is heartwarming (she’s a Lexington native), and she is a fierce advocate for women’s rights and artists. She’s a great role model for many, including me. It was an unexpected but welcomed gift to spend a little time with Judi.
