“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything – anger, anxiety, or possessions – we cannot be free.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Hurricane Helene

Last night, I learned Hurricane Helene was to make landfall today in Florida and her remnants are destined to reach Kentucky tomorrow. I thought we’d outrun the storm, but she is a fast-running Cat 4, and by the time we landed in Charlotte, NC, to catch our plane home, her rain bands were reaching far inland, Asheville and Boone were already flooding, and Charlotte’s air traffic was backing up because of the poor visibility and heavy rains. We finally made it home, but we brought Helene’s rains with us. Tomorrow promises to be a deluge with high winds, so in that sense, we did outrun it. I gotta give props to the American Airlines pilots who managed the conditions perfectly. And extra props to the waiter who carded me for a beer as we waited for our plane. He made my day.
