“Giving thanks to today for the compassionate people: the lovers, helpers, givers, and healers who see more than themselves, who move through the world with open hands and not closed fists. Thank you. Keep going. It matters.” ~ Unknown

I’ve lost count of the times I’ve seen this look on Robin’s face. She either doesn’t believe what you just said, strongly disagrees with what you just said, or is about to bust out laughing at what you just said. The catch is you must endure the look, sometimes for an appreciable amount of time, to find out which trigger she’s reacting to. If it’s one of the first two, get ready for a proper word whopping, and trust me, nobody on this planet will verbally hand you your a** like Robin Dalton. I take notes every time it happens, hoping to emulate her if I ever get in a way. But if she’s about to laugh, prepare for a joyous burst that brings equal parts relief that she’s not chewing you out and hilarity because she gets whatever joke you’re telling. Much laughter will ensue if this is the case. I realize this description makes her sound scary, but Robin is not scary. She just doesn’t suffer fools, and I, for one, need a straight-shooting friend like her in these bizarre days we’re living in. She is one of the most intelligent, compassionate, and empathetic people I know and one of my most trusted confidantes. She is a true friend valued beyond measure. Shero loves her, too.
