“Don’t be afraid to start again. This time you’re not starting from scratch, you’re starting from experience.” ~ TinyBuddha
Crystal came into the office this afternoon to tell me my opportunity had come at last. Kopana is not a common name, so I’ve never had a bicycle license plate with my name on it, or a keychain with my name on it, or any other touristy trinket with my name on it, because nobody but me is named Kopana. There is an Indian soccer team called Kopana, a South African Safari lodge called Kopano, and even the abbreviation for the Korean Pathologists Association of North America (KOPANA), but no person named Kopana. There’s even a Hawaiian slack key guitarist named Led Kaapana, but no Kopana. Just me. Coke, for whatever promotional purpose, was on campus today, personalizing cans of Coke. We’ve all seen them in stores. “Lisa,” “Joe,” “Jill,” “Bob,” even “Crystal,” but guess what? That’s right. No Kopana. I couldn’t leave the office at the time, and it turned out that a couple of hours later was too late. One again, I don’t have a personalized trinket. <insert sad trombone> It was a lovely afternoon for a walk anyway.
