“I pefer to surround myself with people who are messy and real. Look at nature, it’s wild, messy, and full of imperfections. But it’s also magical. Give me people like that.” ~ J.D. Lynn

gastronomics

It has been a gastronomic 24 hours for sure. Last night it was The Varsity. This morning, after the last OHA session, I hit the road and stopped at the Calhoun, Georgia, Buc-ee’s for a Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich. I washed it down with Beaver Nuggets. Not exactly the breakfast of champions, but I wanted to be home. OHA was fabulous. I saw many loved ones and heard some great sessions. The hotel? Ya’ll, I’ve stayed at better Motel 6s before. This hotel, which shall remain nameless, is in the middle of downtown Atlanta, yet it offered no hot water. We were lucky, though. We had towels, washcloths, and toilet paper. Many of our fellow OHAers did not, and they had real trouble getting any from the registration desk. The ladies’ room on the first floor had no hand soap. That was…. fun after using the bathroom. Trash cans were overflowing, and staff were invisible, i.e., non-existent. I’m chalking it up to yet another adventure.
