Kentucky’s best
Gurney loved music. It was more than fitting that some of Kentucky’s most talented players honored him, and the rest of us, with beautiful music during the reception that followed his memorial, which was a who’s who of Kentucky’s literary world. Listen, ya’ll, our Commonwealth gets some things wrong that the world seems to latch onto like a snapping turtle, but when we get it right, we get it really, really right. Music and literature are the two places where we’ve always excelled. Watching a new generation step up and take their place on the world stage warms my heart more than I can.
