Shero has gone to her final resting place. Her service, which she planned, went off without a hitch. The chapel was filled with loved ones, and many more came to the visitation. It was beautiful to see how many people loved her and how much she touched their lives. I was extremely fortunate that Lois and Missy organized the dinner, and many people lent a hand with food, decorations, and cleanup, because there was no way I could have handled it on my own. I can hardly plan a meal, let alone feed 60+ people. Zula Rae Johnson did a fantastic job singing for Shero. Cousin Steven Terry did an utterly perfect opening, far better than I ever expected, and Rev. Abner did a brilliant job of ushering us all through the service. Randy Halsey at Herald, Stewart, and Halsey really helped me with the planning and paperwork, and Hershel Adkins did a fantastic job at the graveside. Then, there was my family and friends, who are chosen family: they had my back all day, and I mean all day, from Tony and Charlene bringing me an Egg McMuffin this morning so I didn’t pass out from hunger to Crystal Heis, who stuck around all day to ride back to Lexington with me – the blessings and love poured over me was indescribable. All I can say is that today was a pure reflection of Shero and the love she shared while on this earthly plane. I am truly the luckiest woman.
