blooming beautiful

Remember Sunday before last when Kat and Reinette came to visit, and I said they brought all kinds of goodies? Look at these beautiful flowers they brought then (below) and how gorgeous they still are today (above). The roses have unfurled, and they smell so good! I walk past them on the island, and I’m transported to someplace delicious and beautiful. And that custard fruit tart? I had half of it eaten before they got home, and I ate the other half the next day. It just wouldn’t do for me to find another one. It would be like bringing ice cream into the house. It wouldn’t last a day. Now, those girls have got me hooked on real Coke, as in Coca-Cola from Mexico that uses real cane sugar. Real Cocaine, like they originally made it? Probably not, but the cane sugar is real. Let me tell you, when I worked out in the yard for four hours on Sunday, when it was 86 degrees, I came inside and sucked down two of those babies. It was 1970 all over again, glass bottle and all. It was utterly fabulous. I had another one yesterday after a long, hot day at work. I’m savoring the last one. As for the pineapple, I’ve never cut one up before. I’m still thinking about it. Honestly, I like looking at it. Of course, I’ll give it the old college try, but right now, I’m enjoying looking at it beside the flowers. I’m telling you, Reinette and Kat really outdid themselves, and here I am two weeks later still enjoying their kindness. Now, that’s a gift.
