Well, did I have the best time tonight or what? BFF Jen Reynolds had an extra ticket for S.G. Goodman at The Burl. I’d never been to a show at The Burl, I’d heard nothing but great things about S.G. Goodman, and time with Jen is always fun. Plus, I would get to meet her BFF college roommate, Denise Ross, whom I’d heard many wonderful things about. I knew it would be a good night. What I didn’t know was that so many of my favorite people would be there, too. We ran into Dave, Becky, and Lori Campbell almost as soon as we walked in. It’s always a good time with them. Lori and I laughed a lot at how, no matter where we moved, people kept walking in front of us. I threatened to trip them all. Empty threat, of course.
Kathryn Engle texted that she saw me in the crowd, so on my way to meet her, I ran into the Nyoka Hawkins contingent (Karly Dawn Milner, Pam Bob, Robert Gipe, Kate Black, and Dreama Hawkins). I learned so much about Dreama Hawkins tonight that we’ve decided to be Best Friends, which I will gladly be because she’s just one of the best people on the planet. Kathryn met Dreama tonight, and they hit it off, too (because that’s the power of Dreama). Kathryn put out spies around the crowd to find comedian and opening act Andi Marie Tillman because Dreama watches all of her clips on TikTok and thinks she’s the bee’s knees, which she is. A couple of songs into the Goodman set, the spies came through. Meeting Tillman tickled Dreama to death. Meanwhile, the show was really good. The weather and company were perfect. I tell you, it was a brilliant end to a brilliant week, and I’ve never been more grateful.
