I have had quite the day, far too much to write in one post, so here’s the cliffnotes version of one of the highlights. I started the day by giving an interview to Cheri Lawson from WEKU about my research on Place, Identity, and Natural Disaster. We talked for over an hour, and it was absolutely delightful. A couple of hours later, it was time to photograph the annual BGT Member Soirée, except this year, I was given the Lucy Crump Volunteer Award! I was very honored, and they hired another photographer to be there since I very well couldn’t photograph myself. Except I did photograph myself above some time after the awards, because I was off to do something else super exciting. That’s for tomorrow’s post. I was a little disappointed that my major award wasn’t a leg lamp – fra-gee-lay – but I’m happy with a silver cup. Seriously, I was very honored to be recognized for what I do for the BGT, and it was wonderful to see some of their light bulbs come on when they realized I wasn’t hired to be there. It was a good time, and I’m looking forward to selling the house, getting back into the swing of the monthly BGT DeTours, and photographing some of the beautiful historical properties around Central Kentucky.
