I saw more June Bugs in this one day than a month’s worth of days put together. It was unusual. One flew into the side of my head. I couldn’t walk to lunch without stepping on them, laying dead on the sidewalk like these two. Some had already been trampled, their green iridescent shells flattened tight to the concrete. I’d be creeped out except I’ve always loved June Bugs. They remind me of Mark Collinsworth. We used to catch ’em on hot summer days, tie strings to their little legs, and watch them whirl in circles over our heads for hours. Poor little bugs….but we sure had a good time being kids.
