Walking through a cold winter’s drizzle on Valentine’s Day, imagine my surprise to spot flowers. Vibrant yellow petals adorning a large grey stone at the edge of a grey cement wall bounded by leafless grey bushes. On a day so dreary it screamed for a couch, hot cocoa, and bad movies; a day when even a free mocha with a friend was a rush; a day when many feel their aloneness more than any other day of the year; these flowers made me smile as if the clouds had parted and a summer sun shined all around.
