This is not a great photo. It’s not even a good photo. Nevetheless, this cardinal said hi to me during the eclipse so I had to stop to say hi back. Many cultures believe birds are messengers from the other side. Cardinals, in particular, are sometimes favored as relatives. I find it comforting to think our loved ones watch over us in some tangible form whether it’s true or not. Any time a bird friend drops by to say, I’ll stop. One of these days I might even snap a good picture of one of them.
