“Every time you feel that something isn’t working out the way you wish, say to yourself, ‘Oh, I’m being guided to something so much better for my life.’” ~ Unknown
When Tony married Hero’s sister, Charlene, I didn’t just get the uncle I always wanted (he’d been tight with me, Hero, and Shero since I was practically an infant anyway), but I got three new cousins, Jennifer, Carrie, and Anastasia. Jen and I have connected in many beautiful ways, time and time again. She may be the most thoughtful person I have ever met, and that’s saying something because I’ve been blessed to know a whole herd of thoughtful people. She dropped by to see me today on her way to Shakertown, and true to form, we had one of the most sincere and heartfelt conversations I’ve ever had. Having lost her mother years ago, and having spent significant time helping care for her mother, we had a lot to talk about with both of us now being members of a club nobody wants to be in. I value her wisdom. She also brought me Bavarian pretzels and mustard. I value her good taste. As sad as I am, I remain extraordinarily grateful for the many kindnesses shown Shero and me over the past two weeks, and I will be forever grateful that Jennifer Adkins Reynolds is in my life. She is one of my greatest gifts. Plus, Lord Basil highly approves of Auntie Jen.
