Do you remember the 1970s movie Where Have All the People Gone? I saw these boots last Friday, and nobody was around. It reminded me of that movie, which has stayed with me all these years. Lord knows why; it was a pretty terrible made-for-TV film. Growing up so close to WWII and the Cold War, I was acutely aware of nuclear annihilation and the apocalypse, and being pretty young when I saw it, I guess it left an impression.
