aurora borealis

Much of the country got a beautiful show in last night’s sky with the rare aurora borealis showing off. This was the second time in the last few months that the northern lights have appeared this far south. In fact, last night’s show was visible as far south as Texas. This is rare indeed. However, one of the problems living in the city is light pollution, and with that comes the inability to see the whole spectacle when it comes around. This was the best I could get, so faint that if it hadn’t streaked to the corner of the image, I would have guessed a sensor issue, not the aurora. Still, I’ve enjoyed seeing everyone else’s photos. Astronomers say we could have another year or so of these reoccurring intense solar storms, so maybe I’ll be out in the country for one of those. Boo to light pollution.
