“Grateful for where I’m at. Excited about where I’m going.” ~ Unknown
Do you remember how I stumbled upon the creepy Hotel Cecil on my first day in LA? After a day of conferencing last Thursday, I turned on the Travel Channel for some mindless TV and found an episode of Ghost Adventures doing a piece on the Roxie Theater in DTLA. I thought nothing more of it. As Rosie and I walked back to the hotel Saturday night, I looked up – boom – The Roxie was staring at me, much as I stumbled upon The Cecil – boom – just right there. Unlike the Cecil Hotel, the Roxie Theater left less impression, so I don’t have much on it. However, processing the photo of The Roxie makes me think of Leslie Jordan again. He was a theater guy, but in the interview with Leslie that yesterday I mentioned I’d done with him around 2008, you’ll hear how, in many ways, he got his start in Lexington. I found the file (props to my man Josh), and behold! You can hear the whole interview below. For me, listening to it reinforces why I was so hurt to learn that Leslie had left us. What a sweet, caring soul. Rest in Peace, Leslie, and thanks for talking to me.
