The UK Freedom on the Move (FOTM) merry band of digital humanists presented today at the 13th annual Digital Commonwealth about our local FOTM project Self-Emancipated and Enslaved People in Kentucky (SEEK). We just finished a workshop with students last week to create some targeted work with the slave ads a previous cohort of students clipped from our historical newspapers. We’re working on making it live soon. Meanwhile, we’ve got another presentation to give in Denmark at the end of this month. I was supposed to go and present in person, but as happens way too often in my life, things have aligned to prevent it. Nevertheless, the show must go on, and we’ll do it all virtually. Today was just the warm up. I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of folks to work with than Reinette Jones, Jen Bartlett, and Vanessa Holden. We make a good team.
