“Surround yourself with people that reflect who you want to be and how you want to feel. Energies are contagious.” ~ Unknown
There are times in life that leave one speechless, and today was nearly one of those times. The only thing missing from an otherwise perfect day was Hero. Still, he was undoubtedly there, cheering me on from beyond the veil, as family, blood, and chosen (I’m looking at you, Crystal), and my fantastic thesis Chair and Chair of the Historic Preservation Department, Dr. Doug Appler, made up for his physical absence. It meant so much to have them there. Greg and Stacy sent photos of the TV appearance as they watched from home, which was good because there were probably 6,000-8,000 really happy people at Rupp Arena. Fortunately, I walked very early in the process, so we got into Club C, the Alumni Association’s graduation gala, where we had the chance to meet up and have a quick photo together before we headed off to have a fabulous lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse. I snapped a few pictures throughout the process as best I could to help me remember the day. Thank you to everyone who sent texts and messages of well wishes and kindness. This old gal sure does love ya’ll.
I’m going to put a link to the commencement ceremony here so I can watch it someday when I’m awake long enough.
