I bet money you didn’t have Betsy Ross and her Revolutionary War husband at your Fourth of July party. They pulled up in a black Mustang, not on a black mustang, but in a Ford Mustang, and came marching toward the house, flag a-flying. Before long, I found Mr. Capt. Ross texting someone, General Washington perhaps, in the shade as Col. Mathis grilled up the traditional Revolutionary victuals of burgers and dogs. Patriots Tony and Charlene had Fort Adkins bedazzled in the new country’s colors, which happen to be the old country’s colours, in celebration of its 250th birthday. The rest of the regiment, out of uniform, enjoyed a wonderful day of fellowship and food. Satan must have cleared out overnight, because the temp was reasonable and the humidity tolerable, so we were able to visit with one another at length. I sure wish Hero and Shero had been with us. They would have enjoyed the afternoon as much as I did. I’m mighty grateful for my family, and I absolutely love that the patriots of yore came to party with us. Hands down, they won the day.
