“Even when everything is going wrong in my life, there will always be something to be grateful for.” ~ Unknown
I’ve been talking about the people who came to my artist reception, but here’s my old, old friend, Jerry Barker, whom I ran into the day I delivered the work. I talk to Jerry all the time on Facebook, but we hadn’t seen each other in person in decades. He and his first wife and her family moved to Tucson soon after we did in 1975, and it was a bonding experience. Fast forward all these years later, and I adore him more now than I did 50 years ago, and I adored him then. Jerry wanted to be at the reception, but he and his wife took a river cruise through Europe instead. I couldn’t believe he dumped me for a European vacation! He made up for it, though, by leaving me a box of cactus to pick up after the reception. That’s right – a box of prickly pear cacti that he transplanted from the prickly pear at his house. What better to give his little Arizona buddy, eh? Tickled me to death. After he gets back from his travels, I’m making it a point to go for a long visit with my old friend. We’ve got a lot to catch up on.
