“Find something you’re passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.”
~ Julia Child
Meet JD Carruthers. I hesitate to call him a student worker because he’s not your ordinary student, and he’s not your ordinary worker. JD is in the doctoral history program and came to work with us not long after I started. I knew him before that, not all that well, but I knew he was smart and would excel. Boy, did I get that right. On top of being uber-smart, he’s always upbeat, enthusiastic, and he hums. He was singing California Dreaming earlier this week. It’s a pleasure to be around someone so positive and smart. Plus, he loves his kids, he loves his wife, he loves learning, he loves the outdoors, and he’s compassionate toward people and animals alike: all qualities I highly admire. I look at JD just outside my office door and I’m reminded of just how lucky I am.
