“It is important to expect nothing, to take every experience, including the negative ones, as merely steps on the path, and to proceed.” ~ Ram Dass
Everyday, as I leave Special Collections, I pass Ruth Bryan’s office. Everyday there she sits surrounded by maps and blueprints and journals and ephemera of all kind. Occasionally, I’ll pop in. We always have interesting conversations. She’s bi-lingual, quite knowledgable about people, places, and things outside America, loves animals, and she’s smart. Plus, I get to see a funny side of her that I don’t think a lot of people around us get to see. Take this face she’s making, for instance. It’s a play on something utterly stupid I said which she made fun of because it was too stupid not to make fun of. I love having friends with whom I can share an inside joke. I’m glad to count Ruth among them.
In other news, my what a difference 24 hours can make, eh?
