Yesterday, for the first time, someone asked what the J stands for in Wally’s name. It took nearly five months, even after I’ve thrown his full name around more than I would normally, I still didn’t get a bite. Finally, Judy Sackett asked, a bit randomly, too. I’ve promised her lunch as the prize. Meanwhile, Stacy Yelton has known his full name all along. Kudos for keeping mum, Stacy. You get lunch, too!

So, what does the J. stand for? Jesus, where the J is pronounced H. Wallace Jesus Terry: furry barkmeister, keeper of Ko, chaser of cats. I went with Jesus because it sounded unusual and I like that (I’m named Kopana – it comes with the territory, and I couldn’t pronounce it with a J because that’s just too weird, even for me), but also because Wally, in his calm disposition, compassion, and patience, reminds me of Jesus (where the J is pronounced J). As I always say, dog is God spelled backwards, and I was ready and accepting of the love of a dog. I’d been waiting for over five years for another canine companion. Wallace J. Terry was worth the wait. He is Jesus awesome no matter how you pronounce it.
