“Your mind is a garden. Your thoughts are the seeds.
You can grow flowers, or you can grow weeds.”
The Great Hall of the old Margaret I. King Library was packed with UK students at their studies. Today, as the Great Hall of Special Collections it offers space for exhibits and presentations for students and the wider community. The building is unique in many ways. It was the main library when I was working on my undergrad degree. It has been a branch library since 1998 when Young Library opened. I’ve spent most of my 14 years as a UK employee in this building. If you had told me I would work at UK all those years ago when I was crawling through the stacks as a student, I would have said you were insane. My goal was a MFA in photography from UNM in Albuquerque, not a MLIS. Life is truly, truly fascinating sometimes, and still things are as they should be, including the Great Hall.
