Remember, I said Thursday was an awesome day? It wasn’t just the headshots with Carla and Carol, henceforth known as C². That was just the start. After work, I met the family at Longhorn Steakhouse to celebrate Aunt Barbara’s 82nd birthday. It was the first time I’d been to Longhorn without Shero. When she felt better, we’d planned to celebrate our birthdays together at Longhorn later in January as we’d done since they moved to Lexington six years before. Of course, that didn’t, couldn’t happen. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel going without her, but the buoyant energy C² gave me in the morning carried through to the evening, and I found the family equally joyful. It was a wonderful time to celebrate Barb, and they likely didn’t know it was another first for me without Shero. I was beyond grateful for their kind embraces. It made the transition easy. Plus, I hope I look and feel as good as Barb when I’m 82! I’m so happy to have her in my life.
