A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues.

April (snow) showers, bring (brown) May flowers
April (snow) showers, bring (brown) May flowers

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I woke up. There was snow on my apple blossoms. I laughed out loud. Yesterday was shorts and flip-flop weather. While I’m not thrilled at the return of winter, it did make for a beautiful morning. Then, in the evening, I attended a lecture at the always gorgeous Keeneland Library where I met in person for the first time my cousin, Dan Prater (below). Long story short, about a year ago Becky Ryder (director of the library) told me she had an ace volunteer from Morgan County. She told Dan, said ace volunteer, she had a friend from Morgan County. He figured out right away how we’re related. (He is the great-nephew of my great-grandfather Prater, in case you’re wondering) We became fast friends, but it was all virtual, until today. We talked for a long, long time after the lecture. It will not be our last talk because he’s totally awesome. This was a great day, snow and all.
