I had the best experience today during UK Senior Leena Haider’s Gaines thesis defense. She is smart, engaged, curious, loads of fun and one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. Plus, her thesis topic on ROSCAs (rotating savings and credit association among individuals in an informal financial exchange) and women’s money is fascinating. I’m still thinking about it. I was having a super shy moment this morning so I didn’t get a group photo of the whole committee (Srimati Basu, Kristin Monroe, and Richard Schein), which I really wanted because they made this process a wonderful experience; start to finish. Anyway, it’s little wonder Leena’s a Gaines Fellow with all she has going for her. And how could she go wrong with BFF Catherine Brereton making sure she and all the other Gaines Fellows have everything they need to succeed? She couldn’t! Day made.
