“For one human being to love another human being: that is perhaps the most difficult task that has been entrusted to us, the ultimate test, the final test and proof, the work for which all other work is merely preparation.” ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

Dali

Today, at First Presbyterian Church, I attended the memorial service for my colleague and friend Bill Marshall. If I have any photos of Bill, they’re buried deep in the archive and I have none to share here. Bill was beloved by many people, and after the service, the reception was filled with many co-workers and people I love, too, like Terry Keys. He and Bill sang in the choir together and did deacon duties for the church. I missed Terry earlier in the week at Maundy Thursday, so we promised each other a good long hug today. We made good on that promise, and then I discovered the portrait “studio” setting on my new phone and caught these. I’m ever so pleased with his Salvadore Dali impression. Bill would be, too. I’m so grateful to have known, worked, studied, and congregated at First Pres with Bill and I am eternally grateful for Terry Keys every single day. Not every girl has her own Dali.
