“Inhale peace, Exhale stress
Inhale love, Exhale fears
Inhale calm, exhale worries.”

I had the best afternoon when Aunt Linda and three of her four grandchildren came to see me. It gave me the opportunity to give the boys one of their Uncle Shorty’s knives that I’ve been planning to give them for a few months. Plus, it gave me a chance to hug Linda. She and Shero were the very best of friends, and she couldn’t come to the funeral because she had COVID. This was our first chance to see one another since the hospital. It felt good. We laughed and told the boys stories about the family from long ago.
Linda’s grandson, Logan (tall blond), graduates from EKU in two weeks with a degree in something that is both medicine and biology. He’s going to dental school after that, and we’ll finally have a doctor in the family. He was going to be an MD, but he’s a smart boy and didn’t like the idea of graduating with 160K in debt, so he switched to dentistry. His first cousins, Adam and AJ, have got things cooking, too. AJ’s about to move in with his girlfriend, Ella, whom we love. She is unfazed by our large family, so she fits right in. Adam continues to pursue his love of cinema, learning new software and colorization. A man after my heart. These boys feel more like nephews than cousins. Hero, Shero, and I love them so very much, and sending them home with one of their Uncle Shorty’s knives made my heart grow a thousand times bigger. And a hug from Aunt Linda made me know everything is a-okay.
