“Endurance is not just the ability to bear a hard thing, but to turn it into glory.”
~ William Barclay
This evening I finally went to West Sixth Brewing. Which craft beer did I try? None, but I did have the shrimp and grits from Smithtown which is housed in the same building serving delicious seafood throughout the bar… like a real pub. Even still, I didn’t go for the food. I went for Suds and Science, a lecture series held the last Monday of each month. This month’s lecturer was my BFF, forensic pathologist, Greg Davis. Like the bar and the food, he did not disappoint. I find what he does fascinating, and being on the faculty at the University of KY, he’s an excellent teacher, even to a layperson like me. You’ve got to hand it to a bar that understands how educated Lexington’s population is, and how attractive such an esoteric lecture series would be. It was standing room only. I call that a success. Plus, Greg got more than a few laughs with the X-file/NCIS/Quincey jokes. Have I mentioned that he’s one of the funniest guys I know? Yup, he’s all that, and I’m honored to call this science nerd my friend.
