Today was Riley Morrow’s 11 month photos. We went to the Arboretum again. This is what we found. In other news…

Yesterday’s entry was distracted by the UofL Final Four game, so I didn’t get to properly introduce Stanya Franklin Terrell, which is a shame because if anyone deserves high praise it’s her. Here we are (below) with Mamaw on her 97th birthday from September 12, 2009 (photo by Stacy Yelton). We’re actually related on both sides of Stanya’s family (her mother and Mamaw share the maiden name Hamilton). Stanya loved Mamaw and would visit often. She’s been a huge help to mom, dad, and Janet, too. That helps me more than I can say. It’s not just her caring that puts me at ease. Stanya laughs a lot like Janet, too, and occasionally the timbre and inflection of their voices are just alike. Though Stanya didn’t leave our small hometown, she doesn’t suffer the narrow viewpoints that all-too-often come from staying so rooted. She’s very progressive in her heart and mind. She’s deeply compassionate, forthright, considerate, open, smart, and loving. She’s also hysterically funny. She’s a keeper. Her husband, Chris, thinks so, too.

Thank you for the kind words. When I die I think you should give my eulogy!!! I have always said give flowers and kind words to the folks that are living in the here and now. When they are gone it is far too late. You, and your family, are some of the best people I know and am so very proud to be your sista-cousin. We shall have a moving party come Saturday and Aunt Janet will finally get what she so rightly deserves.

I’ll deliver your eulogy but you have to give me at least another 30 years to write it. Janet deserves that perfect little place indeed. We shall celebrate!
