“We are all of us stars, and we all deserve to twinkle.” – Marilyn Monroe

Day two of the IFLA conference is in the books. It went better than I could have ever hoped. Everyone was generous with their knowledge and encouraging with one another. It was a beautiful thing. I’ve never been associated with people who are more passionate about saving history, or compassionate of their colleagues. And there aren’t words for how touched I was when, at the end of the day, Neils Bønding (whom you met last night) asked the entire room to stand up and give me a collective fist pump for such a great conference. The work we have all done together over the years mean more to me than I can say. And although they will never know who we are, future generations using newspapers and news media for research will have us to thank for what little we’re able to save for them. I’m perfectly alright with that because these folks are my reward (but I would like to save a lot more, please, and thank you).
