There are many things I love about fall, and at the top of the list is UK’s drum line. Touted as one of the top percussion programs in the country, largely due to Jim Campbell, the drum line began their practice routine yesterday. I wasn’t going to miss them today. I had the wrong lens on the camera, but no matter. It was a lovely morning for a walk – thump thump thump thump tap tap paradiddle paradiddle tap tap triplet tap- amongst the outdoor sculpture beside the art museum. The click of the metronome as familiar as the acorns falling at my feet. There’s a lot to be said for the familiar, especially when it makes you smile.
