“We are not given a good life or a bad life. We are given a life. It’s up to us to make it good or bad.” ~ Unknown

Mom has not been feeling well but rallied for lunch at Cracker Barrel yesterday. We were seated beneath a trumpet and African American 45 singles display, including Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Harry Belafonte, Earl Bostic, and Johnny Mathis. In addition to playing drums in the high school band, Shero also played trumpet. Here she’s seen remembering the fingering used to play the instrument. Having tried my hand at the trumpet in the middle school band, I soon abandoned it for my true love, drums, because it made my jowls feel like they were exploding. I understood immediately why Louis Armstrong’s face and neck expanded like a Frilled Lizard when he played. I’m unsure why Mom gave it up, but I enjoyed watching her take a trip down memory lane.
